Bindings to 'libxml2' for working with XML data using a simple, consistent interface based on 'XPath' expressions. Also supports XML schema validation; for 'XSLT' transformations see the 'xslt' package.

Changes in 1.6.0

xml_add_child() without .where argument is now much faster. The default is now NULL and still means "append after the last child".
read_html() now defaults to encoding = "UTF-8" to prevent double-encoding of UTF-8 content on Windows with codepage 65001 (#490).

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
