Functions for Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimation, non-linear optimization, and related tools. It includes a unified way to call different optimizers, and classes and methods to handle the results from the Maximum Likelihood viewpoint. It also includes a number of convenience tools for testing and developing your own models.

'print' and 'show' methods for 'maxim' objects
stdEr returns NA-vector when Hessian missing
the preferred way to query number of obs is 'stats4::nobs', not 'miscTools::nObs'
maxBFGS and other optim-based methods: documentation mentions that the function value output is negative when requesting with printLevel
missings in the initial value results in error, not the special return code.
fixed some documentation issues Versions 1.6-0 to 1.6-8 did not pass CRAN checks

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
