Estimating the mean and variance of a covariate for the complier, never-taker and always-taker subpopulation in the context of instrumental variable estimation. This package implements the method described in Marbach and Hangartner (2020) <doi:10.1017/pan.2019.48> and Hangartner, Marbach, Henckel, Maathuis, Kelz and Keele (2021) <doi:10.48550/arXiv.2103.06328>.

Install

install.packages("ivdesc")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

pak::pak("sumtxt/ivdesc")

Development version from sumtxt/ivdesc. Requires the pak package.

Release

# one-time r2u setup for Ubuntu (noble)

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/eddelbuettel/r2u/master/inst/scripts/add_cranapt_noble.sh | sudo bash

# then install

sudo apt install r-cran-ivdesc

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). Run the setup once per machine.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

sudo dnf copr enable iucar/cran

sudo dnf install R-CRAN-ivdesc

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

sudo zypper install R-ivdesc

RPMs auto-built from CRAN on openSUSE OBS.
