Provides 'ggplot2' geoms filled with various patterns. Includes a patterned version of every 'ggplot2' geom that has a region that can be filled with a pattern. Provides a suite of 'ggplot2' aesthetics and scales for controlling pattern appearances. Supports over a dozen builtin patterns (every pattern implemented by 'gridpattern') as well as allowing custom user-defined patterns.

Changes in 1.3.1

Breaking changes

Now requires ggplot2 (>= 4.0.2) and thus R (>= 4.1).
All geom default aesthetics now use from_theme() for colours, line widths, and line types. These changes were made to the {ggplot2} analogues in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.
Turned off fallback for size to linewidth translation in geom_bar_pattern()/geom_col_pattern(). This fallback was turned off in geom_bar() and geom_col() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.

Deprecated features

geom_boxplot_pattern(fatten) is deprecated. Use geom_boxplot_pattern(median.linewidth) instead. fatten was deprecated in geom_boxplot() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.
The fatten argument of geom_crossbar_pattern() is deprecated. Use middle.linewidth instead. fatten was deprecated in geom_crossbar() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.

The draw_quantiles parameter of geom_violin_pattern() is deprecated. Use quantile.linetype instead. draw_quantiles was deprecated in geom_violin() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.

New features

We now export GeomBin2dPattern.
geom_boxplot_pattern() gains whisker.colour, whisker.color, whisker.linetype, whisker.linewidth, staple.colour, staple.color, staple.linetype, staple.linewidth, median.colour, median.color, median.linetype, median.linewidth, box.colour, box.color, box.linetype, and box.linewidth parameters for per-component styling. This matches the changes in geom_boxplot() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.
geom_crossbar_pattern() gains middle.colour, middle.color, middle.linetype, middle.linewidth, box.colour, box.color, box.linetype, and box.linewidth parameters for per-component styling. This matches the changes in geom_crossbar() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.
geom_violin_pattern() gains quantile.colour, quantile.color, quantile.linetype, and quantile.linewidth parameters for styling quantile lines. This matches the changes in geom_violin() in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.

Bug fixes and minor improvements

We now construct several geom functions from the {ggpattern} Geom objects with make_constructor() and these {ggpattern} Geom objects now directly inherit more methods from the {ggplot2} Geom objects they extend.
width is now an aesthetic (default 0.9) in geom_bar_pattern() and geom_col_pattern() rather than a function parameter and GeomBoxplotPattern and GeomViolinPattern default aesthetics now include width = 0.9. These match upstream changes in {ggplot2} 4.0.0.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.
