The main function of this package is beep(), with the purpose to make it easy to play notification sounds on whatever platform you are on. It is intended to be useful, for example, if you are running a long analysis in the background and want to know when it is ready.

Changes in 2.0

beep_on_error rethrows the error after beeping. This is a breaking change from 1.3.
Fixed a bug that resulted in R crashing when calling beep() multiple times in a short time frame. (#26)
Removed the dependency on stringr. (#42)
Allowed beep(-1) or beep("none") to result in no sound being played. (#29)
Fixed a bug where the download sound-option did not work on Windows. (#41)
Changed the Linux sound player priority order to aplay -> paplay -> vlc. (#39)

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
