Set of sequence analysis tools for manipulating, describing and rendering categorical sequences, and more generally mining sequence data in the field of social sciences. Although this sequence analysis package is primarily intended for state or event sequences that describe time use or life courses such as family formation histories or professional careers, its features also apply to many other kinds of categorical sequence data. It accepts many different sequence representations as input and provides tools for converting sequences from one format to another. It offers several functions for describing and rendering sequences, for computing distances between sequences with different metrics (among which optimal matching), original dissimilarity-based analysis tools, and functions for extracting the most frequent event subsequences and identifying the most discriminating ones among them. New functions

summary.seqelist(): summary method for event sequence objects, which returns sequence duration and number of transitions as attributes of the returned object.
summary.eseq() summary method for a single element of a seqelist.

Changes in existing functions

seqlegend() and internal TraMineR.legend() gain argument tokens to control state labels included in the legend and their order.
seqplotMD() gains argument tokens.dom to control state labels included in the legend of each domain and their order.
print.stslist.statd() (print method for objects returned by seqstatd): digits is now used for rounding the number of valid states instead as a print argument.
seqcost(): improved handling of missing and removed turning with.missing to FALSE when no missing in seqdata, which caused an issue when refseq had missing states (issue reported by Etienne Peyrot)
seqcost() now checks consistency of returned indel and sm values. An argument check.costs allows controlling whether costs must be checked or not.
seqdist() and seqMD() gain argument check.costs to control whether costs must be checked or not. Disabling the check can slightly improve speed when the function must be invoked a great number of times.
internal checkcost() now skips indel check when sm is time-varying.
internal checkcost() stops checking and raises a message when max substitution cost is zero.

internal checkcost() warns when some substitution costs are 0 and indicates the first of them.

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.
