A suite of conversion functions to create internally standardized spatial polygons data frames. Utility functions use these data sets to return values such as country, state, time zone, watershed, etc. associated with a set of longitude/latitude pairs. (They also make cool maps.)

Changes in 0.8.7

Added a new set of country code conversion functions whose names match those

for state and county conversions:

countryCodeToName()
countryCodeToFIPS()
countryFIPSToName()
countryCodeToCode()
countryNameToCode()
countryNameToFIPS()

These are now preferred over the older codeToCountry() and countryToCode()

functions which, while deprecated, are still supported for backwards compatibility.

Install

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Development version from MazamaScience/MazamaSpatialUtils. Installs pak first if it is not already available.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
