The 'HistData' package provides a collection of small data sets that are interesting and important in the history of statistics and data visualization. The goal of the package is to make these available, both for instructional use and for historical research. Some of these present interesting challenges for graphics or analysis in R.

Document Perozzo's full provenance chain to the original 1880 printed table [Thx: RJ Andrews]
Add Handwashing data: Handwashing.clinics, Handwashing.monthly, and Handwashing.hospital, Semmelweis' (1861) counts of births and maternal deaths from childbed fever at the Vienna maternity clinics, before and after he introduced handwashing in May 1847. Transcribed from the tables in the original 1861 book.
Use tinyplot for a couple of examples, to try this out. Possibly extend to other examples
tinyplot is now used for the Nightingale line graphs, as well as Handwashing (two clinics) and Mayer.
Fix GaltonFamilies examples: car::scatterplot() calls used outdated argument names, so the 68% data ellipses and legend position were ignored.
Fix ggplot2 warnings in the Breslau, Minard and PearsonLee examples (linewidth for lines, legend.position.inside, no data$var inside aes()).

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
