Provides an up-to-date copy of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) Time Zone Database. It is updated periodically to reflect changes made by political bodies to time zone boundaries, UTC offsets, and daylight saving time rules. Additionally, this package provides a C++ interface for working with the 'date' library. 'date' provides comprehensive support for working with dates and date-times, which this package exposes to make it easier for other R packages to utilize. Headers are provided for calendar specific calculations, along with a limited interface for time zone manipulations.

Changes in 0.5.0

Updated the time zone database to 2025a (#37).
Updated the embedded date library (SHA 32ecb2ad24699963f6c58d74d74bcd8bf7e830a9) (#36, #40).
cpp11 >=0.5.2 is now required.
R >=4.0.0 is now required. This is consistent with the standards of the tidyverse.

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
