Network Common Data Form ('netCDF') files are widely used for scientific data. Library-level access in R is provided through packages 'RNetCDF' and 'ncdf4'. Package 'ncdfCF' is built on top of 'RNetCDF' and makes the data and its attributes available as a set of R6 classes that are informed by the Climate and Forecasting Metadata Conventions. Access to the data uses standard R subsetting operators and common function forms.

API

When selecting auxiliary coordinates on an axis, printing a CFVariable using that axis will print the name of the active coordinates for that axis and its units, if set.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
