Provides an interface between R and 'PostGIS'-enabled 'PostgreSQL' databases to transparently transfer spatial data. Both vector (points, lines, polygons) and raster data are supported in read and write modes. Also provides convenience functions to execute common procedures in 'PostgreSQL/PostGIS'.

OVERALL CHANGES

pgGetGeom(), pgGetBoundary() now use the SRID for defining the CRS instead of the proj4 code.
pgWriteRast(): argument progress have been removed.
pgWriteGeom() now throws an error when CRS is undefined.
Functions that return a TRUE value, now return it invisibly (pgMakePts(), )
Use of cli for better user feedback
raster and sp are now suggested and not imported by rpostgis
Use lifecycle warnings to encourage users to use sf and terra, and don't use sp or raster anymore in rpostgis.
pgSRID(): now throws an error when CRS is undefined

BUG FIXES

Fix an error in dbWriteDataFrame() that was causing data frames with dttm columns to be unable to be written to the database.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
