Simplifies the creation of reproducible data science environments using the 'Nix' package manager, as described in Dolstra (2006) <ISBN 90-393-4130-3>. The included `rix()` function generates a complete description of the environment as a `default.nix` file, which can then be built using 'Nix'. This results in project specific software environments with pinned versions of R, packages, linked system dependencies, and other tools or programming languages such as Python or Julia. Additional helpers make it easy to run R code in 'Nix' software environments for testing and production.

New features

fetchgit(): added an automated git clone fallback when computing SRI hashes and dependencies for Git packages. If downloading the archive tarball fails or is blocked by anti-bot/login restrictions (e.g. on Forgejo/Gitea instances), {rix} falls back to a fast shallow git clone (git fetch --depth 1) to retrieve the source, calculate the NAR hash, and extract the commit date.

Bug fixes

nix_hash(): added gzip magic byte verification to detect HTML challenge/error pages early when downloading archives instead of attempting a broken untar().
nix_sri_hash(): added safety checks against empty path vectors (character(0)) to prevent unhandled argument is of length zero crashes.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.
