Scaling models and classifiers for sparse matrix objects representing textual data in the form of a document-feature matrix. Includes original implementations of 'Laver', 'Benoit', and Garry's (2003) doi:10.1017/S0003055403000698, 'Wordscores' model, the Perry and 'Benoit' (2017) doi:10.48550/arXiv.1710.08963 class affinity scaling model, and the 'Slapin' and 'Proksch' (2008) doi:10.1111/j.1540-5907.2008.00338.x 'wordfish' model, as well as methods for correspondence analysis, latent semantic analysis, and fast Naive Bayes and linear 'SVMs' specially designed for sparse textual data.

Changes in 0.9.10

Removed textmodel_svm() due to #72. We are working with the authors of **LibLineaR** on a fix, at which time we will restore the function to the CRAN version of the package.

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Development version from quanteda/quanteda.textmodels. Installs pak first if it is not already available.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
