Access the United States National Provider Identifier Registry API https://npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov/api/. Obtain and transform administrative data linked to a specific individual or organizational healthcare provider, or perform advanced searches based on provider name, location, type of service, credentials, and other attributes exposed by the API.

Changes in 0.3.1

BUG FIXES

npi_search() retains previously retrieved records when a later page is empty.
npi_flatten() preserves all input keys when selected nested data is empty, regardless of column order.
npi_summarize() formats complete addresses when an optional second address line is absent or missing.
Result validation now checks each column's expected type and requires POSIXct timestamps.

MINOR IMPROVEMENTS

Tests no longer require live API connectivity or pagination delays.
Summary column selection no longer triggers tidyselect deprecation warnings.

DOCUMENTATION FIXES

Vignettes build without API access and clearly distinguish live search examples from executable examples using bundled data.
Documented flattening behavior for empty nested data and the existing result type contract.

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled. We list this channel from recorded r2u download activity rather than from a live index of the repository, so treat it as last known rather than guaranteed.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make
