A generalization of the 'Synth' package that is designed for data at a more granular level (e.g., micro-level). Provides functions to construct weights (including propensity score-type weights) and run analyses for synthetic control methods with micro- and meso-level data; see Robbins, Saunders, and Kilmer (2017) doi:10.1080/01621459.2016.1213634 and Robbins and Davenport (2021) doi:10.18637/jss.v097.i02.

Install

install.packages("microsynth", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

# enable the iucar/cran COPR if it is not already present, then install
ls /etc/yum.repos.d/*iucar*cran*.repo >/dev/null 2>&1 \
  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-microsynth

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
