Graph Drawing with Intelligent Placement (GRIP)
Overview
Implements GRIP multiscale graph layout with a unified choice between hop-count and geometry-aware edge-length graph metrics in 2D and 3D. Provides layout scoring, candidate comparison, multiscale trace diagnostics, synthetic graph families, and advanced experimental geodesic-KK utilities for weighted-layout evaluation and polish. Based on Gajer and Kobourov (2002) doi:10.7155/jgaa.00052 and Gajer, Goodrich and Kobourov (2004) doi:10.1016/j.comgeo.2004.03.014.
- Removes the 40 long-form compatibility aliases deprecated in the 0.1 series. See
help("grip-0.2-migration")for the complete replacement map. - Narrows the public graph-family API to primitive edge generators, configurable mask helpers, and complete graph bundles. Specialized edge-list builders, standalone surface embeddings, and parameter-coordinate builders remain available internally to those bundles.
- Makes
gmds.result()internal; public layout methods continue to return the common"grip_gmds_layout"result format. - Adds executable examples for every exported function and an API regression test that enforces this documentation contract.
