Calculates the (approximate) effective number of clusters for a regression model, as described in Carter, Schnepel, and Steigerwald (2017) doi:10.1162/REST_a_00639. The effective number of clusters is a statistic to assess the reliability of asymptotic inference when sampling or treatment assignment is clustered. Methods are implemented for stats::lm(), plm::plm(), and fixest::feols(). There is also a formula method.

Install

install.packages("effClust", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-effClust

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
