The stochastic (also called on-line) version of the Self-Organising Map (SOM) algorithm is provided. Different versions of the algorithm are implemented, for numeric and relational data and for contingency tables as described, respectively, in Kohonen (2001) <isbn:3-540-67921-9>, Olteanu & Villa-Vialaneix (2005) <doi:10.1016/j.neucom.2013.11.047> and Cottrell et al (2004) <doi:10.1016/j.neunet.2004.07.010>. The package also contains many plotting features (to help the user interpret the results), can handle (and impute) missing values and is delivered with a graphical user interface based on 'shiny'.

Install

install.packages("SOMbrero")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

pak::pak("tuxette/SOMbrero")

Development version from tuxette/SOMbrero. Requires the pak package.

Release

# one-time r2u setup for Ubuntu (noble)

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/eddelbuettel/r2u/master/inst/scripts/add_cranapt_noble.sh | sudo bash

# then install

sudo apt install r-cran-sombrero

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). Run the setup once per machine.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

sudo dnf copr enable iucar/cran

sudo dnf install R-CRAN-SOMbrero

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

sudo zypper install R-SOMbrero

RPMs auto-built from CRAN on openSUSE OBS.
