The goal of 'GHCNr' is to provide a fast and friendly interface with the Global Historical Climatology Network daily (GHCNd) database, which contains daily summaries of weather station data worldwide (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/land-based-station/global-historical-climatology-network-daily). GHCNd is accessed through the web API https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/services/data/v1. 'GHCNr' main functionalities consist of downloading data from GHCNd, filter it, and to aggregate it at monthly and annual scales.

Install

install.packages("GHCNr", repos = "https://cloud.r-project.org/")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Release

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

ls /etc/yum.repos.d/*iucar*cran*.repo >/dev/null 2>&1 \
  || sudo dnf copr enable -y iucar/cran
sudo dnf install -y R-CRAN-GHCNr

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
