'Asio' is a cross-platform C++ library for network and low-level I/O programming that provides developers with a consistent asynchronous model using a modern C++ approach. It is also included in Boost but requires linking when used with Boost. Standalone it can be used header-only (provided a recent compiler). 'Asio' is written and maintained by Christopher M. Kohlhoff, and released under the 'Boost Software License', Version 1.0.

Install

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

Development version from eddelbuettel/asioheaders. Installs pak first if it is not already available.

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). The cranapt setup runs once and is skipped when it is already enabled.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

For install.packages() integration in R, also: sudo dnf install R-CoprManager
