Computed over every cell in the object, reading it as one vector. It stands in for a per-column list: 815 columns of one type, described whole.

The mean of each row, and of each column, summarised. Reading every cell as one vector gives a matrix and its transpose the same answer; these do not. With no per-column list, this is what says whether the columns differ from one another.

The row means vary far more than the column means, so what separates the values runs down the rows.

All 815 columns hold numeric values, so this object is described whole rather than column by column. A list of one type repeated 815 times says less than a summary over every cell, and no column is left out of that summary. See Values and Margins above.
