Provides functions to download and tidy statistical data published by the 'Office for National Statistics' <https://www.ons.gov.uk>. Covers GDP, inflation (CPI, CPIH, RPI), unemployment, employment, wages, trade, retail sales, house prices, productivity, population, and public sector finances. Most series are fetched from the 'ONS' website using its CSV time series endpoint. House price data is sourced from 'HM Land Registry' <https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/land-registry>. Data is cached locally between sessions.

Install

install.packages("ons")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

pak::pak("charlescoverdale/ons")

Development version from charlescoverdale/ons. Requires the pak package.

Release

# one-time r2u setup for Ubuntu (noble)

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/eddelbuettel/r2u/master/inst/scripts/add_cranapt_noble.sh | sudo bash

# then install

sudo apt install r-cran-ons

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). Run the setup once per machine.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

sudo dnf copr enable iucar/cran

sudo dnf install R-CRAN-ons

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

sudo zypper install R-ons

RPMs auto-built from CRAN on openSUSE OBS.
