Tools for training and analysing fairness-aware gated neural networks for subgroup-aware prediction and interpretation in clinical datasets. Methods draw on prior work in mixture-of-experts neural networks by Jordan and Jacobs (1994) <doi:10.1007/978-1-4471-2097-1_113>, fairness-aware learning by Hardt, Price, and Srebro (2016) <doi:10.48550/arXiv.1610.02413>, and personalised treatment prediction for depression by Iniesta, Stahl, and McGuffin (2016) <doi:10.1016/j.jpsychires.2016.03.016>.

Install

install.packages("fairGNN")

Installs the current CRAN release. Prebuilt binaries on Windows and macOS.

pak::pak("rhysholland/fairGNN")

Development version from rhysholland/fairGNN. Requires the pak package.

Release

# one-time r2u setup for Ubuntu (noble)

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/eddelbuettel/r2u/master/inst/scripts/add_cranapt_noble.sh | sudo bash

# then install

sudo apt install r-cran-fairgnn

Fast Ubuntu binaries via r2u (no compilation). Run the setup once per machine.

bspm (used by r2u) also needs make: sudo apt install make

sudo dnf copr enable iucar/cran

sudo dnf install R-CRAN-fairGNN

RPMs from the iucar/cran COPR, rebuilt from CRAN.

sudo zypper install R-fairGNN

RPMs auto-built from CRAN on openSUSE OBS.
