Provides reusable building blocks for research packages across matrix representation, numerical computation, neighborhood evaluation, controlled execution, and runtime interoperability.

Full description

Provides reusable building blocks for research packages across matrix representation, numerical computation, neighborhood evaluation, controlled execution, and runtime interoperability. Core tools preserve declared sparse semantics, expose dense-memory and output boundaries, standardize neighborhood and classification results, and align serial and parallel result and error behavior. Additional helpers support structured messages, optional dependency checks, and common statistical workflows.

About complexity

Cyclomatic complexity counts the independent paths through a function: 1 is a straight line, higher is harder to test. R functions only.

Release notes (0.5.3)
  • feat:
  • Add fit_trends() for GAM and PreTSA feature trends. Statistics include fit scores, peak and valley times, P-values, and adjusted P-values. fitted, lower, and upper are optional and stay in input order. GAM bounds are +/- 2 standard errors on the link scale. PreTSA bounds equal the fitted values.
  • Add local_verbose() to set options(log_message.verbose) for the calling frame and restore it on exit. Compiled log_message() reads that option through get_verbose().
  • Add --demo to the Python and Shell log_message scripts and remove the standalone example files.
  • Move the Python and Shell helpers from inst/python/ to inst/scripts/. The old path is removed.
  • compatibility:
  • invoke_fun() requires a list or pairlist of argument values, or NULL. Calls with arguments still use a temporary child environment: captured expressions use temporary symbols, caller-frame side effects stay in that environment, and captured model calls are not generally replayable.
  • R verbosity is unchanged: an explicit call argument wins, then options(log_message.verbose), otherwise the message stays visible.
  • Python and Shell no longer read LOG_MESSAGE_VERBOSE. An omitted verbose stays visible.
  • ask is no longer silenced when verbose = FALSE in R, Python, and Shell. error still signals.
  • Honor NO_COLOR in the Python and Shell scripts so terminal styling can be bypassed.
  • fix:
  • Keep nonconstant zero-sum features in PreTSA trend significance tests and return a P-value of one for constant features.
  • Include zero values in fast_aggregate() means and align them with aggregate_matrix() means.
  • Apply grouped maximum, minimum, and custom summaries separately to each column, preserving dimensions and names for single-row groups.
  • Preserve missing values when sparse maxima use na.rm = FALSE, and respect symmetric and triangular sparse matrix storage.
  • Recognize pak's github:: prefix in installed repository metadata when checking package sources, avoiding unnecessary reinstallation.
  • Reduce invoke_fun() call-construction overhead while keeping large objects outside captured calls. Preserve string function names, use the same function lookup for empty and nonempty calls, avoid temporary-name collisions, and preserve explicit missing arguments and their defaults.
  • Keep the original check_r() installation error when the optional remotes package is not installed.
  • Report a PSOCK worker that exits during send, or while the scheduler is waiting for a result, as parallelize_worker_error. Classification does not depend on the language of R's connection messages. A serialization failure, including a warning promoted to an error, is still raised unchanged when the worker is alive.
  • docs:
  • List local_verbose in the pkgdown reference index.
